GrapheneOS

After testing GrapheneOS on my Pixel 6 in the fall of 2024, I decided to keep using it as my daily driver. Since I primarily use my phone for texting and calls, I kept things minimal and only installed two additional apps beyond what GrapheneOS includes by default.

F-Droid

F-Droid is an open-source app store for Android that focuses on privacy and transparency. I installed it primarily to add the Tor Browser, which isn’t available through the default GrapheneOS app sources. F-Droid makes it easy to find and install privacy-respecting apps without relying on Google Play, and it aligns perfectly with the philosophy behind GrapheneOS.

Tor Browser

I’m currently experimenting with hosting content as part of the Tor network, making a mobile version of the Tor Browser essential for testing my onion services. It’s lightweight, intuitive, and a critical tool for anyone exploring decentralized publishing.
