I went from a Linux only setup to just one remaining device: my Zephyrus laptop. It currently runs CachyOS GNOME edition, and as long as it continues to perform without issues, I have no intention of returning to Windows 11 Pro.
Before switching to macOS, this laptop was my primary workstation, chosen specifically for its portability and speed. It remains a reliable and powerful tool in my workflow.
asusctl
On my Zephyrus laptop, asusctl replaced the GNOME Battery Health Charging extension. It’s a powerful utility tailored specifically for ASUS laptops, providing fine-grained control over battery charging thresholds, performance modes, and hardware features. With asusctl, I can manage battery health directly from the terminal, no extra extensions needed.
Note: I installed asusctl from the AUR without any issues.
Blender
Because my Zephyrus laptop has an 8GB NVIDIA graphics card, I prefer to run Blender on it rather than my Mac Studio. Blender is a comprehensive 3D creation suite that handles everything from modeling and sculpting to animation and rendering. Thanks to GPU acceleration and full Linux compatibility, Blender runs exceptionally well here, making it my go-to tool for all 3D content creation.
ComfyUI
As a Blender user for over 26 years, I’m truly amazed by what ComfyUI can achieve. In today’s fast-paced world, when time is precious, I often choose to generate rather than spend hours modeling, texturing, lighting, and rendering a scene. ComfyUI accomplishes all of that in under a minute, showcasing the incredible power of AI-driven creativity. It’s a glimpse into the future of 3D art, efficient, intuitive, and downright awe-inspiring.
Pinokio
Over the years, I’ve worked with countless software tools, but only a select few truly stand out as brilliant. Pinokio is one of those rare gems, able to install complex AI applications flawlessly, every single time. I installed Pinokio from the AUR, and I’m happy to say it has never failed me when adding new AI software. Reliable, seamless, and indispensable.
